Real stories from people whose lives we have touched.
Maarifa Empowerment Initiative began showing up for our community long before many organizations even noticed the crisis. When African newcomers were sleeping on the streets with nowhere to turn, Maarifa volunteers cooked meals, delivered warm food daily, and helped countless people find safe accommodations. Their compassion, consistency, and humanity changed lives — including mine. Maarifa was there when we needed them the most.
Maarifa Empowerment Initiative welcomed us with warmth when we arrived in Canada. The workshops, referrals, and one-on-one guidance helped us settle faster and feel part of a community. We are truly grateful.
Attending the International Women’s Day program changed my life. I gained knowledge on economic empowerment and learned that I am not alone. Maarifa’s support gave me confidence and a network of strong women.
As a senior living alone, I often felt isolated. Maarifa’s volunteers visit me, bring culturally familiar food, and check on my well-being. Their kindness reminds me that I am valued and not forgotten.
