Our Programs

PROGRAM 1

Newcomers & Settlement Support

The program is designed to help immigrants and refugees integrate into Canadian society by supporting newcomers with language services, employment, housing, and access to social services. Our program includes one-on-one counselling, referrals to community resources, and information sessions to help newcomers overcome initial barriers and become active participants in Canadian society. We facilitate life skills and educational workshops to empower newcomers through knowledge and implementation.

PROGRAM 2

Women & Girls Empowerment

This program empowers women and girls through education and advocacy. We facilitate workshops on Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and Economic Empowerment. Every year we celebrate women at the United Nations, International Women’s Day by hosting one of the largest gatherings of African International Women’s Day Event in Toronto.

PROGRAM 3

Children & Youth Development

Children and Youth This program aims to support children in empowering skills development and self-awareness. Our youth program holds life skill workshops and mentorship support. The program aims to improve the social and economic well-being of the youth in marginalised communities.

Support Our Cause

Maarifa Empowerment Initiative welcomed us with warmth when we arrived in Canada. The workshops, referrals, and one-on-one guidance helped us settle faster and feel part of a community. We are truly grateful.

Amina R.

Newcomer Mother

Attending the International Women’s Day program changed my life. I gained knowledge on economic empowerment and learned that I am not alone. Maarifa’s support gave me confidence and a network of strong women.

Chidinma O.

Women’s Empowerment Participant

As a senior living alone, I often felt isolated. Maarifa’s volunteers visit me, bring culturally familiar food, and check on my well-being. Their kindness reminds me that I am valued and not forgotten.
